Full story below…
During the 2021 TCA Winter Press Tour, ViacomCBS unveiled the programming line-up for its rebranded streaming service Paramount+ (formerly known as CBS Access).
And it brought with it the news of the sitcom’s return.
Word is that Coby Bell is set to reprise his role of frugal footballer Jason Pitts and folk can expect many familiar faces in the mix too.
When it premiered on @BET, @TheGameBET broke records. The sitcom is back on #ParamountPlus to offer a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football. 🏈
The confirmation comes after ‘The Game’ was initially set to be revived at its original network, The CW.
At that time the reboot has the following story:
“This time, our out-of-touch old-timers are determined to help a bunch of knuckle-head new-schoolers navigate the ruthless game of football on and off the field. They will clash through the pitfalls of fame, fortune and love. Some will win, others will lose, but that’s what happens when you play The Game.”
When news of a revival first hit, it was reported that Wendy Raquel Robinson, Tia Mowry, Hosea Chanchez, and Pooch Hall were set to reprise their roles. Time will tell if they are all still in the mix.
‘The Game’ first aired on The CW in 2006 and ran for three seasons before its premature end in 2009 when the network moved away from the sitcom format.
After demands from fans, the show re-launched on BET in 2011 and ran for an additional six seasons – with the likes of Brandy and Lauren London joining the cast.
We’re buzzed for the comeback of ‘The Game.’ Are you?
