Tiffany Haddish Becomes Second Black Woman in GRAMMY History To Win ‘Best Comedy Album’

Published: Sunday 14th Mar 2021 by Rashad

GRAMMYs 2021 had an unprecedented night of historic achievements.

After breaking records with awards bestowed to Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, and Blue Ivy Carter (daughter of Beyoncé) at the ceremony (click here to read more), the history-making continued for winners – all ahead of the main show.

Look inside to see how comedienne Tiffany Haddish is laughing all the way into the GRAMMY record books inside:

Since its 1959 introduction, only 5 women previously boasted earning a ‘Best Comedy Album’ GRAMMY – Jo Stafford (1961), Elaine May (1962), Lily Tomlin (1972), Whoopi Goldberg (1986), and Kathy Griffin (2014).

Now, thanks to her critically acclaimed comedy LP ‘Black Mitzvah,’ funnygirl Tiffany Haddish has joined the exclusive club.  The win makes her the second woman of color to ever nab the trophy – 35 years after Goldberg first broke the color barrier.

Watch her tearful response below:

For some, the triumph came as a surprise given Haddish’s recent dispute with the Recording Academy (click here to read more about that).
