Acting continues to agree with multi-hyphenate diva Keri Hilson.
The GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter may be best known for topping music charts with tunes like ‘Pretty Girl Rock,’ ‘Turnin Me On,’ ‘Knock You Down,’ and more (as well as writing hits for the likes of Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and others). But – as evidenced by her appearances in a string of successful feature films on the big and small screen since the early 2010’s – her talents aren’t limited to the studio and stage.
No further evidence is needed than her latest movie venture, ‘Lust.’
Viewership = 893,000
As we reported here, TD Jakes Enterprises teamed with Lifetime to bring two movies to the women’s network: ‘Lust’ and ‘Envy.’ Film adaptations of the books of the same names penned by Victoria Christopher Murray, the back-to-back weekend premieres are part of the channel’s ‘Seven Deadly Sins Story’ franchise.
‘Lust’ was toplined by singer-actress Keri Hilson and featured an all-star cast that included the likes of singer-actor Tank, singer-actress Letoya Luckett, ‘Little Women’ star Ms. Juicy, Perri Camper, and veteran actor Clifton Powell.
Ranking #2 among all scripted programs that aired on Saturday (April 10), the movie raked in right under 900,000 viewers at its premiere airing – making it the #1 scripted program of its hour. Among all broadcasts – reality, news, and sports programming included – ‘Lust’ landed at #22.
Longtime fans of Miss Keri Baby know this isn’t the first time she’s drawn an impressive viewership audience for Lifetime. In January 2017, Hilson filled out another all-star cast (which also included Kelly Rowland, Meagan Good, Brandon T. Jackson, and more) for the network’s ‘Love by the 10th Date’ film.
The Nzingha Stewart-directed movie drew in 1.19 million viewers at its premiere – making it that day’s highest rated scripted venture.
