Golden Globes 2022 CANCELED Amid Collective Demand For Diversity

In an unprecedented move, next year’s Golden Globes has been canceled as calls for an overhaul of its voting committee and broader practices gain volume.

Recent times have seen the lack of diversity in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association spotlighted and critiqued in earnest.

In the wake of the furore, several stars, studios, and streamers confirmed they would cease submitting releases for review until change was made.

The collectivised action has seen the plug pulled on the 2022 Golden Globes – which will now not air on NBC. Instead, it’ll return in 2023 so as for a thorough overhaul of the system to take place.

A statement from the network trumpeting the news read:

“We continue to believe that the HFPA is committed to meaningful reform. However, change of this magnitude takes time and work, and we feel strongly that the HFPA needs time to do it right. As such, NBC will not air the 2022 Golden Globes. Assuming the organization executes on its plan, we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.”

    Good! I never saw the value in these awards. We all knew they unfair & biased.

    I don’t think they’re taking the right approach adding 20 new members to their roster of 86. A true overhaul would be getting rid of the biased members whose votes will continue to largely outweigh the minority.
