Phylicia Rashad has spoken out anew after receiving blazing backlash for celebrating Bill Cosby‘s release from prison.
As reported, ‘The Cosby Show’ actor’s conviction for sexual assault was overturned due to what many deem a legal technicality. The 83-year-old was freed shortly after, ending his three year-stint in the slammer.
His on-screen wife Rashad came under fire after taking to Twitter to praise the controversial development. She wrote: “FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!”
Now, the 73-year-old actress has issued a new statement.
Her words below…
“I fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing.”

She should have just kept quiet. Because he was NOT exonerated, he was let off on a technicality. He’s still guilty and doesn’t deserve a celebration.
Phylicia Rashad is only reacting to her dealing with Bill Cosby. The Cosby Show had a great run on tv. With many seasons of them working together, and mother was gorgeous in her younger years. Phylicia Rashad never reported inappropriate touch with Mr. Cosby. Many innocent men have been accused of r*** or inappropriate touch from women. She only speaking from experience with him. There’s no need to delete or ghost your post-Phylicia. She did the correct thing by not deleting.
Just well as other has Opinion she’s Entitled to her thought and way of thinking. There are innocent men and women in jail for a crime they didn’t commit. You can have a witness for your freedom and still end up in jail. You can have evidence proving your innocence and still end up on death row.

She supports survivors but does not believe that all who come forward are truthful, naturally. Something was clearly amiss when the prosecution had a parade of women going to the witness stand to tell UNPROVEN stories of being drugged. There are plenty of women who say Bill was never inappropriate with them, but the jury only heard what they wanted to when looking in front of them and seeing a black man and a white woman in tears. It was presumption of guilt that put Cosby in prison.

Advocating for accurate, and fairness for the application of the law no matter the crime is Justice in the highest form. No matter his wrong, Bill Cosby was rightfully released because justice under the law required his release. Not a technicality.

Everyone is responsible for their actions. The women should have press charges as soon as it happened and should not have accepted money. If that had happened to me I would have gone to the hospital ER and police while I still had the evidence in my body and system. Then there would not have been any doubts. Or a long waiting time (years). M

Mrs. rashad has always been a role model for our community and a great mother figure. Now I’m sorry for sexual Assault victims and don’t agree with hurting anyone. Dr.Cosby has been found innocent case overturned. So he doesn’t fall in that category. Which means he’s always been innocent. If Mrs.Rashad want to fly around America cause she happy a good friend and person is coming home after been thru a lot and to tell you the truth you really need to stop and leave are people alone we are not black or Africans but Americans keyword.
