The Weeknd has taken the music world by storm and is now looking to make a splash in another media – television.

For, the superstar has been tapped to star in a new HBO cult drama named ‘The Idol.’

Full story below…

The show centers on a female pop singer who starts a romance with a mysterious Los Angeles club owner who is the leader of a secret cult.

The Weeknd is set to star in the series and also serves as one of its co-writers.

He also is credited as one of ‘The Idol’s co-creators alongside ‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim.

Though most renowned for his musical prowess, The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) isn’t a stranger to the TV arena. He previously wrote and starred in an episode of ‘American Dad.’

We’re here for it.

The most exciting and enduring careers tend to belong to those who leave their mark across many fields. What’s more, in today’s age, diversification of output is more than a “nice” appendage. It’s an evolutionary necessity. So, this definitely a smart play on Abel’s part.
