Just six months after making EMMY history as the first trans actress to be named in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama category (for her portrayal of “Blanca Evangelista” on the hit FX series ‘Pose’), MJ Rodriguez now becomes the first transgender woman to take home a Best Actress Golden Globe.
Details inside:
The 79th annual Golden Globes, which did not have an official televised ceremony this year, took to social media Sunday night (January 9) to hand out its honors.
Going up against TV powerhouses Uzo Aduba (“In Treatment”), Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Christine Baranski (“The Good Fight”), and Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series category, Rodriguez emerged victorious to historic fashion.
With the win, MJ also becomes the fourth Black woman to nab the trophy – following previous wins from Gail Fisher, Taraji P. Henson, and Regina Taylor.
The recognition serves as a seismic elevation for LGBTQ representation at the Golden Globes, which has been riddled with criticism for the lack of diversity aboard its voting committee.
She was really heart of the show. It was well deserved.
She is a MAN and a poor s***** actress. Billy Porter was the only true thespian on Pose 💯
Well deserved.
Ya’ll love these gender-bending freaks on this site. This is an ugly dude not a woman; hollywood is trash.
SCREAMING 🤣
FLOP!
The Golden Globes sunk to an all-time low. I’ll never watch again. Poor (real) women.
MJ is NOT a Black woman or a woman.
Congrats, MJ! Well deserved.
That is NOT a woman!!! Transsexuals need their own category!
Eyes cocked like a pistol.
