As reported, Aaron McGruder‘s Pop culture provocateur uniquely received a two-season, 24-episode order from HBO Max in 2019 – even before the streamer had launched.
McGruder was also back on board as showrunner.
A 2020 launch was set, which ended up being postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic.
However, actor Cedric Yarbrough has confirmed that the project will not be moving forward. He shared the news during a sit-down with Young Deuces on the Geekset Podcast.

‘The Boondocks’ reboot was set to serve up aspects of the familiar in that was to center around the Freeman family and their combat against Uncle Ruckus. A “new” angle was to see the once lowly Ruckus serve as a prominent leader in Woodcrest County – and he rules with an iron fist.
No word on whether the project will be revived on another network.
Axed because grandads dead and the new writers don’t care if the voice actors do a good job smdh
I have no reason to be disappointed because they already FAILED with the 4th season. I’d be surprised if this newer installment was even Half as good as Season 2.
