Award-winning actress Tisha Campbell is being accused by many of unduly playing a victim after taking to social media last week to allege she was almost kidnapped as part of a human trafficking scheme.
The criticism hasn’t acted as a deterrent to stop her pursuit of justice, however.

Campbell, who was in Brownsville, TX filming a project, says a man hopped out of the backseat of a taxi she’d hailed and commanded she get inside. To ward them off, Tisha claims she made loud noises to draw attention to herself – causing the cab to flee as a result.
While the revelation was first met with sympathy from well-wishers, eyebrows were raised later when police officials from the area where the alleged crime almost occurred took to Facebook to reveal they were unable to find evidence to validate her claim.
Sending her name to trending status on Twitter as a result, Campbell was branded “Tisha Smollett” by critics – a comparison to fellow ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett, who was found guilty of multiple counts of filing a false police report stemming from a 2019 hoax hate crime.
A spokesperson for the 53-year-old actress clarified the alleged attempted abduction didn’t occur in Brownsville (where she is filming a project), however, but in South Padre Island where she was staying for the time.
“She’s very traumatized by the whole thing,” her publicist Courtney Barnes said in an interview before revealing the actress has moved forward with filing the police report in the proper jurisdiction.
As of time reported, police officials from South Padre Island have not made an official statement on the matter.
She needs help.
