White Chicks 2: Marlon Wayans Explains the Delay of Sequel

Published: Sunday 24th Apr 2022 by Sam

It goes without saying that ‘White Chicks’ has long stood as a comedy classic.

Helmed by brothers Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, the 2004 film saw the dynamic pair play FBI agents who go undercover as caucasian sisters.

Generating over $113 million on a $37 million budget, the movie was not just hugely successful, but hugely also profitable.

And, per Marlon, the latter is at the center of the hold-up for a much-demanded sequel.

Full story below…

Appearing on The Breakfast Club to plug mew HBO Max special ‘Marlon Wayans Presents: The Headliners,’ the 49-year-old funnyman was asked about which film franchises he had an interest in returning to.

Citing titles such as ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘White Chicks’ – and went a step further to reveal why the latter has not yet come to fruition. Despite there being offers on the table.

Explaining the situation to hosts DJ Envy and Angela Yee, Marlon said:

“7 hours of make-up. We worked 14 hours after that. We slept 2 hours a day. They keep coming to us. ’Hey let’s make a White Chicks 2.’ That is a movie that makes worldwide a couple hundred million dollars.

We want to make a better, bigger movie than the first one. That’s gonna cost you. We did the first one for $35-$40 million. We got to get paid too.

We know what we would do with a sequel. We know how funny it would be. But it’s not something we’re doing for nothing. I ain’t sitting in no make-up chair, no. It’s got be worth my time. Otherwise, I make more just being a Black man making movies.”

Would you be checking for a ‘White Chicks’ sequel?

White Chicks is the last comedy of his that I liked. Lately, I’ve been impressed with his dramatic roles (Respect, Bel-Air).

As much as I always liked the Wayne’s Brothers its time to Give it up FLATSCREEN, they’re no longer funny or even marketable. Doesn’t help much that the BABY (Marlon) is 49 years old either. Lol

Grab two white male actors and do a “Black Chicks” about stereotypical black women. Oh, I forgot, you couldn’t. No one would see the funny side and there would be worldwide outrage. I don’t know why we can’t all just sit back and laugh at stereotypes, each other and ourselves instead of being “outraged” over everything. I loved White Chicks, I thought they did a great job and I’d love to see a second one.

White Girl Stereotype SENSITIVE PRETENTIOUS, PRIVILEGED, PREPPY.

Black Girl Stereotype FAT LOUD GHETTO RATCHET POOR WEDLOCK WwHORE OBNOXIOUS IGNORANT.

Besides pointing out the obvious logic of Oppression there are 2 different standards here for a reason.

White Girl stereotypes are not an INSULT to them. Its a highly accurate observation.

The Waynes Brothers have ALWAYS stereotyped BW. In “Don’t Be Menace”… The BW was cast as a single mother w/ multiple children by different men.

In fact most Black comedians stereotype BW as ratchet & ghetto. The Waynes Brother did NOT depict WW the same way, although there are low class, racist, violent & fat WW in America.
