Relationship guru/YouTuber Kevin Samuels is no stranger to trending on social media for delivering what many deemed harsh and misogynistic opinions about dating Black women, but Thursday (May 5) the 56-year-old’s name flew to the top of Twitter’s hottest topics due to rumors he had died of cardiac arrest.
While a number of outlets, including ThatGrapeJuice (as reported here), shared the news based on information from sources allegedly close to Samuels, no one from his family came forward to confirm it – until now.

Taking to NBC News, Beverly Samuels-Burch – Samuels’ mother – declined to release specific details about what happened to her son but she did confirm he passed away.
She went on to confirm she learned of her son’s death via social media.
“That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out. I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified,” she said in a phone call on Friday (May 6). “All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.”
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment in the city Thursday morning “regarding a person injured.” First responders arrived quickly, but were unable to revive an unresponsive person later identified as Kevin Samuels.
Reports have it a woman in the apartment, who claims to have spent the night with the YouTube star, told the officers that he had complained about chest pain and that she called 911 after witnessing him fall to the ground.
