The magic of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ will be celebrated anew in a freshly announced reunion special.
And it’s set to see a number of notable names from the 1997 musical return.

The revered production will be saluted when ‘Cinderella: The Reunion’ premieres on ABC on August 23.
Brandy, who played made history in the titular role, will be joined by the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Paolo Montalban, Bernadette Peters, Victor Garber, Bernadette Peters, Jason Alexander, Veanne Cox, and more, as they collectively honor the much-loved production.
The hour-long special will see them joined by the likes of Billy Porter, Todrick Hall, and producer Debra Martin Chase, to reflect on the seismic cultural significance of this particular iteration of ‘Cinderella’ – which was watched by an estimated 60 million upon its initial broadcast.
It was notably (and rightfully) hailed for its purposefully multicultural cast and the positive impact that it had.
A nod to the late Whitney Houston, who shone in the role of the Fairy Godmother, is expected in the special.
Set to air during Disney’s World Princess Week, the reunion will be followed by the first network television broadcast of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ in over two decades.
