Aries Spears On Mike Epps Calling Him “A B*tch” In Defense of Lizzo: “Step Your Funny Game Up”

Published: Wednesday 7th Sep 2022 by Rashad

As comedian Aries Spears saw his name soar to trending heights on social media two weeks ago in response to his unprovoked criticism of GRAMMY-winning singer Lizzo and her physique (as we reported here), a number of commenters – celebrity and all – weighed in on the topic.

Among the more headline-grabbing responses was that of actor-comedian Mike Epps, who not only called Spears a ‘b*tch’ for his initial statement but also said he looked ‘sick and dirty.’

During a recent chat with VLAD TV, Aries was quizzed on his thoughts about Epps’ comments.  In his reply, he revealed his beef with Mike goes back much further than the Lizzo quip and suggested ‘The Upshaws’ star’s true motive for speaking out was deeper than the defense of the ‘About Damn Time’ singer.

Amid continued backlash for his comments about Lizzo as well as a controversial lawsuit that alleges he engaged with sexual misconduct with minors alongside comedienne Tiffany Haddish, Aries was spotted on VLAD dishing about the backlash from the former incident.

When asked about Mike’s weigh in, Spears didn’t bite his tongue.

“You know, Mike is salty at me from the last stupid sh*t he said which was ‘cops kill us because we kill us,'” he said before using the 1921 Tulsa Race massacre as his defense about why Epps’ assessment of police brutality was false.

Although he suggested the race debate is the true impetus for the award-winning comic dissing him, he didn’t excuse the ‘dirty and sick’ joke.

“I’ve been from city to city, and the people were like ‘Yo, Mike was garbage,'” he shared. “So, I will say again to Mike:  turn down the volume on the shiny suits and expensive jewelry.  Step your funny game up.”

It’s not all hate from Aries though.  From praising Epps’ comedic ability to his celebrated filmography, click PLAY on the clip above to see everything that was said about the ‘Friday’ star.
