AMC Cancels ’61st Street’ After 1 Season Despite Having Already Filmed Season 2

AMC has officially pumped the brakes on its critically acclaimed series ’61st Street’ after just one season.

Executive produced by actor Michael B. Jordan, ’61st Street’ was a legal drama that saw hard-working attorney “Franklin Robert” (portrayed by TONY & EMMY-winning actor Courtney B. Vance) take a hard look at Chicago’s criminal justice system – an institution rife with racism and rampant corruption.

Also starring Academy and EMMY Award-nominated actress Aunjanue Ellis (who previously shared screen time with Vance on HBO’s ‘Lovecraft Country’), Holt McCallany, Tosin Cole, and others, ’61st’ was canned by AMC at the top of the year despite having already wrapped production on its second season.

Report:

“[’61st Street’] is one of multiple shows that have been affected by AMC’s latest cost-cutting measures after the company announced that it would be taking $400 million in content write-downs in December, per Variety.”

While the already-filmed Season 2 is not slated to hit airwaves via AMC, faithful fans of the show are hopeful it will be licensed to air on another network since it’s already been filmed.

As of time reported, no official news on its future has been announced.

You should worry about Diamond and Silk and not shows with majority Black casts. Priorities all mixed up.

HBO has created a dangerous precedence by deleting content and writing it off on their taxes. Now you have other companies following suit. Hopefully this gets sold somewhere instead of deleted forever. F*** HBO
