Get ready to Netflix and chill with Mo’Nique!
The Oscar and Golden Globe winner is putting past dramas in rearview and has teamed with the streamer for a slate of new projects including her incoming stand-up comedy special.
Christened ‘My Name is Mo’Nique,’ the production – which is executive produced by Mo’Nique and husband-manager Sidney Hicks – is billed as being “filled with laugh till you cry stories as well as soul bearing emotion.”
Set to arrive on April 4, the L. Frazier-directed special precedes the premiere of the star’s new Netflix film ‘The Deliverance’ – which sees her reunite with Lee Daniels.

After all of the hoopla, I hope this special is actually funny and not just Mo’Nique talking about how people did her dirty. Because one of those things is comedy and the other is testimony. It can sometimes be both, but it better at LEAST be the former given that it’s called a COMEDY special.
