Chloe Bailey: “I Want To Be Storm” in a Future Marvel ‘X-Men’ Film

Published: Thursday 23rd Mar 2023 by Rashad

Chloe Bailey may be no stranger to garnering critical acclaim for her soaring vocals, but recently the GRAMMY nominee doubled down on her desire to literally take to the sky by breathing new life into the highly coveted role of X-Men’s Storm.

Details inside.

When not hot on the promo trail in support of her debut solo album, ‘In Pieces’ (on digital shelves March 31), the GRAMMY-nominated singer-actress has been turning heads with her growing acting resume which includes the controversial Amazon Prime series ‘Swarm,’ the forthcoming ‘Praise This’ movie, and more.

In that vein, Bailey chatted it up with our friends at Collider recently to discuss ‘Swarm’ as well as the highly anticipated premiere of her sister Halle Bailey‘s ‘The Little Mermaid.’

“I’m so proud of my sister and I think it’s all about the timing and when opportunities present itself to you, and she couldn’t have been a more perfect Ariel,” Chloe told Collider at the 18:47 mark of the video above. “Her sweet, soft angelic voice, and that was perfect for her. And the right opportunity will find you”.

Also quizzed on if she’d ever want to bring a Disney character to life in a live-action film like her younger sibling, the ‘Have Mercy‘ hitmaker didn’t hesitate to share her dream.

“I don’t know about a live-action, but I want to be Storm in Marvel, and Disney owns Marvel,” she revealed at the interview’s 20:30 mark.

While she didn’t expound on the concept at the time of the Collider interview, fans of the 24-year-old know this isn’t the first time she’s put in the universe how enamored she is with the Marvel Universe.

For Halloween 2022, the 24-year-old dressed as the “Mistress of the Elements” (as seen above) and later detailed the inspiration behind the decision.

“I’ve always wanted to be a superhero, and [Storm is] my favorite one, so you can fill in the blanks. She is just so fierce and sexy and strong — all of the things I want to be — and she’s beautiful at the same time. And she doesn’t take any sh-t,” she told ‘Variety.’

At writing, Marvel hasn’t confirmed any concrete plans on how the iconic character will be presented in its next ‘X-Men’ venture.

What we do know is the role is a highly coveted one among young actresses, so the Chloe will definitely have her work cut out for her securing the part.

Once upon a time, David Bowie’s wife Iman would of been the best Storm. But that was back in 2000. She was even from Africa

  10. Ariana March 24, 2023

No, only darkskin girls should be considered. She is cute tho

  11. Blair March 24, 2023

Anyone not named Jade Cargill should NOT be considered for playing Storm! However, Jade Cargill better take some acting classes and fast! She literally looks like Storm and is muscular while s*** at the same time… It’s just that she may not have the acting skills required. AEW wrestling superstar may not allow her much acting freedom.

We want storms how she always have been drawn in the comic books as a, dark skin, African
    Queen

    • Zade (I’m Fat, insecure & un-f-uckable) March 24, 2023

We want little mermaid how she always have been shown in the Disney movies as a white beautiful red hair Queen, not an ashy ugly cotton picker maid like her.

      • Moss March 24, 2023

She wasn’t a queen nor is she white, maybe more of a pink color. Nor is the new one a cotton picking maid but that’s just the insecurities of your own skin color. The hate you’re pushing only reflects your inner failures as a person. Be an adult for once in your life.
