Russell Simmons is speaking up after his family’s drama spilled onto social media yesterday (June 19).
As reported, the mogul’s daughter took to Instagram with a stacked list of allegations against her father – including claims that he cut her off financially, threatened her, and was verbally abusive to not only her, but sister Ming and their mom Kimora Lee.
Aoki’s allegations were accompanied by various video clips and screen grabs of text message exchanges with her estranged father.
Now, Simmons has broken his silence.

Sharing a clip of his daughters via Instagram, the 65-year-old wrote:
“God is testing you a little bit, it’s ok, be strong. . . they are called growing pains . . . as you know, we grow through adversity and struggle . . . you read my books and heard me preach your whole childhood . . . reach back to old lessons and remember to remember “smile and breathe” ❤️ “smile and breathe” . . . you are the watchers of this world . . . so let go . . . be at ease . . . Parents are human too. They get depressed, frustrated, hurt and a myriad of other emotions. They don’t always do things “right” but apologies and attempting to right their wrongs go a long way. It sucks that this is playing out in the public eye, but I wish them much healing.
