‘The Marvels’ Becomes The MCU’s Lowest Box Office Opening Ever

The 33rd installment in the MCU now has the distinction of becoming the lowest box office opening for any film in the Marvel universe. The filmed opened to $47 million domestically, Entertainment Weekly reports.

‘The Marvels’ did earn an additional $63.3 million internationally. As a result, the total box office gross for its first weekend stands at $110.3 million.

The film’s prequel, ‘Captain Marvel’ opened to $153.4 million domestically and debuted with $456.7 million globally.

‘The Marvels’ is now the first sequel to debut with more than $100 million less than its predecessor.
