André Holland takes the lead in Apple TV+‘s eagerly anticipated new limited series, ‘The Black Cigar.’
And ahead of its May premiere, the streamer has lifted the lid and given the masses the first look at the production.

Based on Joshuah Bearman‘s magazine article of the same name, ‘The Big Cigar’ chronicles the incredible true story of Black Panther founder Huey Newton.
Leaving no stone unturned, the series spotlights his escape from the FBI to Cuba – which happened with the assistance of renowned film and TV producer Bert Schneider.
And it’s all true. For the most part.
Holland takes centerstage as Newton, leading a cast that includes Alessandro Nivola, Tiffany Boone, PJ Byrne, Marc Menchaca, Moses Ingram, Rebecca Dalton, Olli Haaskivi, Jordane Christie, and Glynn Turman.
Premiering May 17 on Apple TV+, the first two episodes are directed by Don Cheadle.
