Tia Mowry set the Web ablaze last week when a clip from her forthcoming We TV reality show, ‘My Next Act,’ saw her tearfully confess that she and twin sister Tamera Mowry were not as close as they used to be.
“[I wish] I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now,” she said in the teaser.
The revelation sent social media into a frenzy with commenters wielding everything from think pieces to trying to establish timelines about the demise of the ‘Sister, Sister’ stars’ relationship.
As promo for ‘Act’ ramps up ahead of its October 4 arrival, Tia was quizzed in a recent interview about the shocking statement.

Taking to ‘US Weekly,’ the 46-year-old clarified her now-viral comment.
“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” she shared.
Suggesting her lack of “closeness” to Tamera is not only due to time constraints but also their physical distance, Tia reminded readers that she lives in Los Angeles (as does brother Tahj Mowry) while Tamera lives in Napa with her husband, Adam Housley.
“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life,” Tia said before relaying, “I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
As far as the hoopla around her initial statement? ‘The Game’ actress says it’s “not surprising.”
“When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is. The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that all our lives,” she shared.
