Elba, 53, has been knighted for services to young people, with the honor recognising his long-standing work through the Elba Hope Foundation. The London native said the knighthood reflects the ambition and resilience of the young people the organisation supports, while stressing the need for sustained and practical intervention to help steer them away from violence.
Speaking on the honor, Elba said:
“I receive this honor on behalf of the many young people whose talent, ambition and resilience has driven the work of the Elba Hope Foundation.”
Elsewhere on the list, Erivo has been awarded an MBE for services to music and drama. The ‘Wicked: For Good’ star continues to balance a flourishing international career with her role as a powerful ambassador for British talent on the global stage.
