Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo is speaking out following comments from Paris Jackson distancing herself from the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic.

Last year, Jackson clarified on social media that she had no involvement in the ‘Michael’ film after PEOPLE reported that Domingo had said that she and her brother Prince were “very much in support of our film.” The singer-model took her Instagram Story to share her side, saying:
“[Colman], don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol. That is so weird. I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest [and] didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and godspeed.”
Now, Domingo, who portrays family patriarch Joe Jackson in the film, says the situation stemmed from a misunderstanding.
Speaking in a new interview with Wall Street Journal Magazine, the actor explained his comments were taken out of context and revealed he reached out privately to Jackson to clear the air, he says:
“I hope that she eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father.”
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the film stars Jaafar Jackson as the legendary Michael Jackson and is set to hit theatres in April.
