Wanda Sykes is getting real about why she likely won’t ever return to host the Academy Awards.
Full story below.
In a new interview on The Breakfast Club, Sykes made it clear that hosting the Oscars is no longer in the cards for her, especially after witnessing the infamous moment between Will Smith and Chris Rock during the 94th Academy Awards.
She spilled:
“Y’all gotta realize, I was working that night, and I watched my co-worker get popped, at work—you know what I’m saying? That’s not supposed to happen. I was upset, like physically upset about it. And then it even sickened me more watching everybody just sit out there and not react. And then to give that man an award afterwards, I was like, I’m done with y’all.”
Sykes also revealed that Smith reached out to her after the incident:
“Yeah, he did, he called. But you know what? I was actually physically sick—I had a sinus infection, so I didn’t pick up. But he left a message. I received it. I accepted. I’m good.”

With Sykes’ interest in hosting clearly fading and major changes reportedly on the horizon (including the Oscars leaving the Dolby Theatre in 2029 and moving to a streaming platform like YouTube), it’s clear the award show is entering a new era.

Not saying what he did was right but are u saying they should have given his award to someone else? He won it fair and square.
