Michael Jackson is proving to be box office gold.
And it’s Moonwalking past the critics to big-screen glory.
Full story below…
The King of Pop’s hotly anticipated biopic ‘Michael’ is off to a blockbuster start, pulling in nearly $40 million on Friday alone in the U.S. and racing toward a huge $100 million domestic opening weekend.
Internationally, the film is also making major noise, pushing its global opening haul well beyond the $100 million mark as audiences worldwide flock to theaters.
With fans turning out in force and effectively silencing critics, the Jaafar Jackson-led movie is shaping up to be one of the biggest theatrical launches of 2026.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the musical biopic stars Jackson as his iconic uncle and chronicles the rise of one of music’s most legendary entertainers.
Should estimates hold, ‘Michael’ will land as the second biggest domestic opening of the year so far, behind only ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’, and ahead of ‘Project Hail Mary’.
The film is in theaters now.
