The eponymous Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael‘ has moonwalked to its fair share of milestones since its April 24 release, but its latest figures push it into an entirely new revenue realm.

By the end of its second week in theaters, ‘Michael’ had already become the most successful biopic of all time based on a solo musical artist.

Amassing a whopping $424 million at the global box office in the short timeframe, the Antoine Fuqua-directed thriller about the King of Pop pounced past the former titleholder – King of Rock N’ Roll Elvis Presley‘s 2022 biographical flick ‘Elvis‘ (which garnered $288.7 million during its box office run).

Now at $577 million after just three weekends, ‘Michael’ is the second highest-grossing biopic of all time worldwide.

Among domestic theaters, however, it reigns at #1 after edging out the 2018 Freddie Mercury biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ (which took home $217 million from North American box offices at the height of its run).

On a global scale, however, ‘Rhapsody’ remains the top-performing biopic of all time having garnered a jaw-dropping $910.8 million.
At the rate ‘Michael’ is advancing, it may not be long before MJ moonwalks to the top spot worldwide.
