Gabrielle Union may be heading to the small screen in a major way.

HBO Max is developing a new legal drama titled ‘Debbie,’ with Union attached as an executive producer and currently in talks to lead the series.

Created by The Fosters co-creator Bradley Bredeweg and Matthew Thomas, the project follows Debbie Powell, a once-powerful attorney whose highly publicized downfall forces her to start over as a public defender. Armed with the same determination and courtroom savvy that made her one of Atlanta’s most respected lawyers, she takes on cases for those often overlooked by the justice system.

The series joins HBO Max’s growing slate of procedural dramas following the success of ‘The Pitt.’ 

Should the series move forward, it would mark another high-profile television role for Union, whose recent credits include ‘Forbidden Fruits’ and ‘Goat.’
