Speaking with journalist Lester Holt on ‘Today,’ the 79-year-old star explained that while he has come to terms with the diagnosis, he understands the road ahead will bring inevitable changes, saying:
“I can live with it, in a sense. I’m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing”
Still, Glover made clear that he is focused on facing the condition with honesty and acceptance.
His daughter, Mandisa Glover, also opened up about the family’s decision to go public, sharing:
“I think it’s really important for him to have control of his own narrative, of his own life story. That’s really important. And the time is now. What better time but now for him to speak for himself?”
The announcement arrives after a remarkable decades-long career that has seen Glover become one of Hollywood’s most respected figures, earning multiple Emmy nominations, Grammy nods, an Independent Spirit Award win and receiving an honorary Oscar in 2022.
