Ward, 28, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The charges relate to an alleged encounter with a woman in 2023.
During proceedings at Snaresbrook Crown Court, jurors heard details from a recorded interview in which the woman described feeling “numb” and “scared” during the alleged incident. She also claimed she attempted to leave the vehicle where the encounter took place.
Prosecutors allege that Ward met the woman earlier that evening at a London event, before the pair later crossed paths again. The court heard that while some initial contact was said to have been consensual, the prosecution argues the encounter later became non-consensual.
Ward’s defense strongly disputes that account and maintains that all sexual activity between the actor and the woman was consensual.
The trial is set to continue, with further evidence and testimony expected to be heard as the case progresses.
