Wendy Williams is officially heading back to screens, albeit as the subject of a new documentary.

Earlier this month, That Grape Juice reported that competing projects about the former daytime queen were being developed at Netflix and Peacock. Now, the latter has officially lifted the lid on a three-part series order.

According to Variety, Peacock has greenlit ‘Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show,’ a working title, for a 2027 premiere.

Williams is not involved in the project. However, her longtime executive producer Susanne Bass is aboard, while more than 20 former staffers will reflect on the phenomenon that was ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’ its cultural impact, and the circumstances surrounding its controversial end.

The announcement arrives as the 62-year-old’s present-day reality remains markedly more complicated. Williams has been under a court-appointed guardianship since 2022 and continues to fight for her independence.

Her team announced diagnoses of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2024. However, subsequent neurological testing reportedly found that she does not have frontotemporal dementia, adding another layer to the legal battle surrounding her care and autonomy.

Indeed, during a rare New York outing just days ago, the outspoken media maven made her position unmistakably clear when asked about the ongoing arrangement: “I want out!”

Against that backdrop, renewed examination of both Williams’ extraordinary reign and how it ended feels especially timely.
