Whoopi Goldberg Stepping Away From 'The View', Explains Why

Whoopi Goldberg is stepping away from ‘The View’ for a spell, just as the daytime staple settles into its milestone 30th season.

The EGOT winner has confirmed that she will miss multiple episodes over the next two weeks.

And the reason sees Goldberg swapping the Hot Topics table for a star-studded new venture.

Full story below…

Speaking on ‘The View: Behind the Table’ podcast, executive producer Brian Teta revealed that the 70-year-old is taking a temporary hiatus to film Netflix comedy ‘Women Like Us’, which TGJ previously reported also stars Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox.

She will be away from the show on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the next two weeks.

She will, however, continue appearing on Mondays.

Explaining her excitement for the movie, Goldberg told the podcast:

“It’s about change and getting older and having fun with your friends and people who get you.”

The Tasha Smith-directed film is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground alongside MACRO Film Studios.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reports that Goldberg’s absence will usher several familiar faces back to ‘The View’.

Former co-hosts Sherri Shepherd,  Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Lisa Ling will rotate into the vacant seat, while Joy Behar will serve as moderator.
