Lee Daniels is successfully building quite the ‘Empire’ over at FOX.

Indeed, after rocking the ratings with the music drama, he birthed another in the form of ‘STAR.’

Anchored by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grad, the series has commanded a strong following and even been renewed for a second season.

Daniels stopped by ‘Wendy’ to plug tonight’s season one finale and brought along the cast to show and prove.

Much to the delight of his diehard followers, elusive funnyman Dave Chappelle teamed up with Netflix for not one, not two, but three 2-hour long comedy specials.

The first two, titled ‘Dave Chappelle:  Deep in the Heart of Texas’ and ‘Dave Chappelle:  The Age of Spin’ (filmed in Austin and Los Angeles respectively), have been teased since the beginning of the year.  Now, as we draw closer to their March 21st premiere date, Netflix has unveiled their official trailers.

The quote above echoes a sentiment shared by fellow Destiny’s Child alum, Kelly Rowland, who took to Essence Live to discuss the possibility of a DC3 biopic after the success of BET’s biographical mini-series on legendary R&B group New Edition (click here to read more about that).

Rihanna is putting the rockiness of her ‘ANTI’ era behind her by making a big splash in the realm of film.

While fans quite literally beg for a video for recent hit ‘Love On The Brain,’ the Bajan belle has instead spent much of her time shooting ‘Oceans 8’ and Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian.’

Now, another movie is on her slate and this time it’s a musical.

ABC is looking to take a few Ls in its upcoming season:  Larenz, Laverne, and Lance!

In 2015 the US Census Bureau estimated that there are 46,282,080 African Americans living  in the United States.

Quite interestingly, as proponents of racial diversity within entertainment celebrate the arrivals of a new batch of “melanated” Hollywood stars, some industry insiders have made an interesting observation.

Most of them are British.

This week, after Samuel L. Jackson took to Hot 97 to reveal why he believes movie studios are overlooking African-American actors to hire Black British actors when casting, the debate surrounding why this may be continues to heat up online.

Get Out‘ has been a box office smash, surpassing the $100 million mark and scoring a 99 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the flick and its British lead Daniel Kaluuya have been critique by Samuel L. Jackson.

The ‘Kong: Skull Island‘ star criticized the decision to cast the British actor over an African American actor in the lead role.

Seemingly bothered by Jackson’s problematic comments, Kaluuya, who was born in London to Ugandan parents, makes his voice heard with having to prove his ‘blackness in an interview with GQ.
