This week marks the 20th anniversary of Janet Jackson’s blockbuster album, ‘All For You.’
Its colorful and sweet second single, ‘Someone To Call My Lover’, is today’s From The Vault pick.
After the album’s title track broke records left and right all over the world, underperforming was definitely not an option for Ms. Jackson. In all its “tailor-made for radio” glory, ‘Lover’ was issued as the LP’s second offering in 2001.
Produced and written by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Jackson herself, it peaked at #3 in the US, #11 in the UK and #15 in Australia. Based on a sample of ‘Ventura Highway’ by rock band America, it seduced critics and fans alike with its bright and melodic aura.
Helmed by director extraordinaire Francis Lawrence, the song’s accompanying visual saw Jackson embark on a road trip of sorts, stopping at a bar where she sings and dances with the crowd. Contrary to the choreography-heavy ‘All For You’, this video was all about editorial shots and Jan’s natural charisma.
With this project, the superstar reclaimed her joy and her smile after battling depression – as documented on her previous LP ‘The Velvet Rope’ – and going through a messy divorce a year prior. Though we love ourselves some dancefloor Janet, her positivity is always infectious and remains a huge part of why the world has connected with her at such a level.
With a tell-all documentary coming out in 2022, a new album on the way, as well as possible plans to give the fans the tour that was affected by the global health crisis, Ms. Jackson has much on the way. And as always, we’ll be front row and center to receive what’s to come.
DaBaby has enjoyed unprecedented success and is being rewarded accordingly.
During the rapper’s headlining DaBaby and Friends concert at the Orlando Amphitheater, he was surprised on-stage by South Coast Music Group’s CEO Arnold Taylor with several platinum plaques.
They included shiny honors for albums ‘Baby on Baby,’ ‘KIRK,’ and ‘Blame It on Baby.’
And that wasn’t all.
The MC also received RIAA certifications for his standout hits: ‘ROCKSTAR’ (5x Platinum), ‘Suge’ (4x Platinum), ‘BOP’ (3x Platinum), ‘VIBEZ’ (2x Platinum), ‘TOES’ (2x Platinum), ‘INTRO’ (Platinum), ‘Goin Baby’ (Platinum), and ‘Baby Sitter’ (Platinum).
Baby also nabbed Gold plaques for ‘BLIND,’ ‘Find My Way,’ ‘Walking Texas Ranger,’ and ‘NASTY.’

As fiery personalities go, few are as scorching as Azealia Banks and Kanye West.
So, one could only imagine the dizzying degrees of heat the pair would emanate as a couple.
And it seems that’s what Ms. Banks has on the mind.

Boxing fans may have tuned into Triller’s pay-per-view “Triller Fight Club” event Saturday (April 17) to see the long-awaited battle between Jake Paul and Ben Askren, but they were also treated to knockout performances by the likes of Doja Cat, Saweetie, Black Eyed Peas, and more.
Taking over the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta with their respective sets of high octane showings, the Rap ladies also stunned fans with the inaugural live rendition of their current top 20 hit, ‘Best Friend.’ As if that wasn’t enough to get excited about, Cat also launched into the first live rendition of her latest single – the SZA-assisted ‘Kiss Me More’ – while Saweetie later broke it all the way down with her hits ‘Tap In,’ ‘My Type,’ and more.

Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.
However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.
This week, we want to highlight cuts from Majid Jordan, Ali Gatie, Mimi Webb, and Illenium.

Azealia Banks has long marched to the beat of her own drum; a fact which has enchanted fans and frustrated them in equal measure too.
As relates to the latter, it’s seen the femcee make minimal mentions of her long-awaited new album ‘Fantasea II: The Second Wave.’
The set has been teased in earnest since 2017 and droplets of material released. Yet, years on the full body of work has yet to be unwrapped.
That all looks set to change, though.

From Queen of Pop Madonna to Dionne Warwick, Beyonce, Lil Nas X, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and many more, Nicki Minaj is no stranger naming her industry peers as fans.
The latest icon to pencil her name on the growing pages of the Rap Queen’s admirers is the Vocal Bible Brandy.
Easily one of the most revered vocalists in modern music herself, B-Rocka had no problem detailing how she ‘fan girled’ when she met Nicki for the first time.
