The Bob Fosse inspired dancer who first rocked the charts upon signing to Virgin Records in 1987, her run atop her scene-albeit short- saw her serve as the blueprint for imagery spawned by Britney Spears and her contemporary/alleged student Janet Jackson.

Today, in celebrating her work, we step back in time and land in June 15th 1989- the day her third single from her ‘Forever Your Girl‘ was released to the world.

Produced by EMI‘s Elliot Wolff and marking one of the highest selling ‘New Jack Swing’ cuts to come from a female artist, the single saw its video placed in the hands of director David Fincher and pull from Fosse‘s 1979 classic ‘All That Jazz‘.

Justin Timberlake kick starts the hype for his forthcoming ‘The 20/20 Experience‘ sequel today, sending the video for its lead single ‘Take Back The Night’ straight into the Pop stratosphere.

Featuring footage from recent tour dates and scenes from his nights out in NYC, the video drops weeks before its supporting release hits stores on September 30 under the title ‘The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2’.

Despite many a hit driven effort, very few Rap collectives can say they enjoyed a run as a fruit as Young Money‘s.

Being in the unique position of seeing all its acts (save for Shanell) reach household name status, the crew now find themselves monopolising Hip Hop and outperforming their Pop counterparts, (see Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake).

Alas, the latest chapter to this success story has seen fans read between the lines to find that the once united group may be bidding adieu to the aforementioned Drake, upon the veiling of these court documents.

More recently, it’s the performer’s absence from the crew’s forthcoming album that’s sparked fresh talk of his departure…forcing Minaj to bare all on the supposed beef.

Ever eclectic, Solange lived up to her billing last night in New York, where she brought a soul-filled set to a Brooklyn laundromat (as part of Fader‘s ‘Uncapped’ series).

The singer, whose ‘True’ EP was met with praise from critics upon release early this year, rocked the house with many of her much-loved gems. She also served up an apt rendition of Nivea‘s 2003 fan-favourite ‘Laundromat’.

As anyone who’s purchased tickets to Beyonce ‘Mrs.Carter Show’ will agree with, the stage show packs a euphoric and celebratory feel to it, showcased from top to bottom.

In the event you haven’t seen the show, you can now witness the joy the show has brought to millions across the globe below- via footage taped during its recent Montreal outing.

For, during a performance of her #1 single ‘Love on Top’, the mezzo-soprano extended her mic to surrounding fans, joining them as one performed the intro the song.

Katy Perry has officially thrown her name into the hat of major names releasing new projects this year.

Multiple sources confirmed that the ‘California Gurls’ singer was working on her third studio album and it now appears the said LP’s accompanying campaign is already underway.

Within a short window of time today, an array of names (including Adam Lambert and Perry’s stylist) shared the shot below which appears to bear both the title and release date of the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Teenage Dream’.
