As reported a couple of weeks back, ‘I Still Will’ is the latest single to be lifted from 50 Cent’s ‘Curtis’ LP. The video for the track, which features R&B star Akon, premiered yesterday. Jesse Terrero (‘Wanksta’, ‘Candy Shop’) directed the clip; I can’t lie, I’m feeling this one.

As many of you by now Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, sadly passed away over the weekend. West was 58. Whilst no official word has been given on the cause of death, some reports have cited ‘complications from cosmetic surgery’. Check out the reports below, both via TMZ:
A plastic surgeon refused to perform plastic surgery on Dr. Donda West because he thought there was a risk of a heart attack. Dr. Andre Abolian told her she needed to get clearance from an internist but Dr. West went ahead with a tummy tuck and breast reduction without the co-sign from the internist.
The fire service were called to Ms West’s residence, following a 911 call:
A hospital spokesperson tells TMZ that an unresponsive West was brought to their ER around 8:00 PM Saturday night. They attempted to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead around 8:30 PM that night.
Whatever the cause, this really is sad. When I heard the news on Saturday, I was in shock. Evidently Kanye and Donda were close and it’s probably near impossible to identify with what he’s going through right now. Having been in London when he received the news, I can’t help but think what the plane journey home must have been like for him. My condolences go out to the entire West family. RIP Dr. Donda West.
Rihanna appears on the cover UK magazine YOU’s November issue. She looks good, but it’s starting to become….It appears yet another defunct group are jumping on the reality show bandwagon in hopes of resurrecting their careers – this time it’s B2K. Before I continue, I’m literally cracking up right now at the ‘realty show’ spelling – very professional lol. About the trailer, it was pretty interesting to see the guys back together, as well as the hinting at there still being unresolved issues with Omarion. Saying that, this kinda screams desperation to me; none of the group, aside from Omarion, have achieved any solo success. Hmmm…

Following a lengthy spell away from the music scene, new material from R&B star Usher has surfaced. Produced by Rich Harrison (‘Crazy In Love’, ‘One Thing’), ‘Dat Girl Right There’ is a welcome departure from the established sound of all those involved. The uptempo track differs from Harrison’s typical Go-Go inspired production style – in fact he’s switched things up altogether. It’s good to see Usher coming from a different angle musically this time around too.With ‘Exclusive’ having hit stores last week, R&B star Chris Brown is hitting the promotional trail in support of the CD. The 18 year old star stopped by BET’s 106 & Park earlier last week for an interview and to perform current single ‘Kiss Kiss’ along with T-Pain. You can check out their performance below:
Apologies for the lack of updates over the weekend, other commitments and whatnot. Anyway, things should be getting back to normal as from now. Bare with me as I play catch up…Another day, another Beyonce endorsement; the R&B superstar’s latest foray into the advertising market is for cable company DirecTV. Don’t get me wrong, I like her just as much as the next person, but this is bordering on overkill. What’s next? I mean, she’s already had her name slapped on almost everything saleable. I must say that the whole play on the ‘Upgrade U’ concept was pretty good, though.
Beyonce & Ads: Overkill or not?
Check out this new promotional pic for Mary J. Blige’s forthcoming album ‘Growing Pains’. She’s been looking consistently on-point as of late. Anyway, contrary to the date in the pic, the album is now set too drop on December 18th.
As soulful songstress Tweet preps the release of her third studio album ‘Love, Tweet’ (her first for new label Umbrella Recordings), a 9-track sampler of the CD has surfaced. Having listened through it, the album sounds like it’s going to be solid – very vintage Tweet. ‘Love, Tweet’ is set to hit stores early 2008.
Check out this remix of Alicia Key’s smash hit ‘No One’ featuring Kanye West; the track surfaced yesterday on the rapper’s official blog. Though it doesn’t sound like Alicia re-recorded her vocals, the track is still worth a listen for Kanye’s verse (aside from his faux singing at the start).
