‘Caught Out There’ hitmaker Kelis found herself caught in a swarm of stings from Beyonce fans (affectionately called the #Beyhive) last week when she spoke out against the music megastar for allegedly sampling her hits ‘Get Along with You’ and ‘Milkshake’ without permission.

Originally listed as one of many contributors to the July 29-released album ‘Renaissance,’ Kelis not only confirmed she was unaware of the listing before the public she also suggested Bey was a thief for securing use of the two songs from The Neptunes (their writers and producers) instead of consulting her.

And while her commentary ignited a polarizing debate about artists’ rights and fair use, the hoopla eventually led Beyonce to remove the Kelis interpolation all together from the album’s track ‘Energy.’

Giveon may be busy preparing to wow the masses on a 9-week tour across North America (as we reported here), but he’s still taking time to plug his debut album, ‘Give or Take.’

The LP peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 and fared even better on the R&B charts when it peaked at #3 there.  As it slips down the latter tally, the latest single from the set – ‘Lost Me’ – has bounded into the top 10 of the Billboard R&B radio chart as its found at #8 this week.

In a bid to push it to even higher heights on that particular hit list, Giveon is inviting fans to take a peek behind the scenes of the creation of its official music video.

Already shrouded in controversy due to slams from singer Kelis for an allegedly unapproved sample as well as disability advocates for the inclusion of lyrics deemed offensive (as we reported here), the LP has landed on the radar of the polarizing rapper-turned-Web-personality who’s branded it as ‘devil-worshipping music.’

The 45-year-old’s review didn’t sit well with the #Beyhive – many of whom have swarmed her social media platforms in defense of their Queen.

In March, Sam Smith and Normani made headlines for reports their 2019 megahit ‘Dancing with a Stranger’ sounded real familiar to a group of songwriters – so much so the penmen took legal action against the hitmaking duo for copyright infringement.

Alleging the song was a ripoff of a 2015 tune of the same name, the writers – Jordan Vincent, Christopher Miranda, and Rosco Banlaoi (under the name Sound and Color, LLC) – even suggested Smith and ‘Mani’s Vaughan Arnell-directed music video for their now-4x Platinum tune has ‘extraordinary similarities’ to the clip that accompanies the 2015 composition.

“It is beyond any real doubt that Smith, Normani, and the other defendants copied Plaintiff’s work,” the three previously wrote. “The protected expression in both the Infringing Song and Plaintiff’s preexisting work is nearly identical and is strikingly similar.”

Five months after the accusations were formally brought to light, lawyers for Sam and Normani have fired back against Sound and Color.  Hop inside to read their response to the lawsuit.

‘Milkshake’ singer Kelis stirred up quite the controversy when she took to social media last week to slam Beyonce for allegedly including interpolations of her 1999 song ‘Get Along with You’ and 2003 hit ‘Milkshake’ on the album ‘Renaissance.’

And while criticism from fans (affectionately called the #Beyhive) hasn’t cooled since Kelis called out the music megastar, that process will undoubtedly get helped along as reports have it the Queen Bey has responded by removing the sample.
