Ryan Coogler is speaking out about a headline-grabbing arrest he says ‘should have never happened.’
According to a police report, the ‘Black Panther’ director stepped into an Atlanta branch of Bank of America (BOA) in January and handed the teller a withdrawal slip with a note written on the back that reportedly read, “I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet.”
Despite providing proper identification, the bank teller assumed Coogler was a bank robber because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, mask, and sunglasses. After she notified her manager and police authorities, the award-winning filmmaker was temporarily detained.
Body cam footage of the ordeal landed online nearly two months later, causing a media hoopla in its wake. Now, Ryan and BOA have issued statements about the now-viral clip.

Days after making headlines for saying he was a better rapper than Eminem (as we reported here), The Game isn’t playing any games with detractors who believe otherwise.
The ‘How We Do’ hitmaker (born Jayceon Taylor) not only got lips moving when he took to REVOLT’s ‘Drink Champs’ podcast to challenge Em to a VERZUZ battle, but jaws dropped when he took to social media over the weekend to reiterate the stance.
“Is Eminem better than me? Nah, he not, bro. And I think the best way to see if he is or if I am is let’s rap about it. Let’s get up. Let’s get in the studio,” he said. “Let’s rap about it. Let’s do something. Let’s put something out. Let’s see ’cause that’s what this shit is, bro. It’s rap.”
And while Eminem has yet to render an official response, his dedicated fans have been taking Taylor to task on his behalf. Tired of the hoopla, Game went on a lengthy Twitter tirade Tuesday night (March 8) to clap back at people who suggest Slim Shady is a better rapper because he’s sold more records.
