‘Va Va Voom’ hitmaker Nicki Minaj zoomed to the top of headlines Monday (September 13) when she took to Twitter to indicate she was unvaccinated and would not be participating in events that required attendees be vaccinated until she can ‘do more research’ – a stance that’s ignited a firestorm of controversy and conversation.

While it should be clear the GRAMMY nominee never expressly indicated she was anti-vax (and even encouraged her beloved fan base, #Barbz, to continue wearing masks), her commentary – which included anecdotal references to vaccine side effects – has earned thumbs down from critics and fellow celebrities including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Piers Morgan, Joy Reid, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Meghan McCain, and others (as we previously reported).

One of the latest to weigh in on Minaj’s vaccine rant was Dr. Anthony Fauci – America’s leading epidemiologist. Look inside to see what he said:

September 3 brought with it the long-awaited premiere of Camila Cabello‘s modernized, ‘girl power’ twist to the classic fairy tale, ‘Cinderella.’

Leading a bill of award-winning stars like Idina Menzel (TONY), Billy Porter (TONY, EMMY), and others, Cabello also captained the Amazon Prime film’s official motion picture soundtrack – which shared the same premiere date as its parent project.

Boasting only a handful of original songs (i.e. ‘Dream Girl,’ the Cabello-penned ‘Million to One,’ etc.), the movie’s companion album shined brightest with its collage of remakes of classic hits like Madonna‘s ‘Material Girl,’ Janet Jackson‘s ‘Rhythm Nation,’ Earth, Wind & Fire‘s ‘Shining Star,’ Salt-N-Pepa‘s ‘Whatta Man,’ and more.

Helping to lead the ‘Cinderella’ flick to become Amazon’s most-viewed offering the weekend of its release, look inside to see if that success spilled over to the soundtrack itself.

‘Always Be My Baby’ (Mariah Carey), ‘We Belong Together’ (Mariah Carey), ‘Nice & Slow’ (Usher), ‘First Night’ (Monica), and ‘U Got It Bad’ (Usher) are just a few of the many smash hit singles that line Jermaine Dupri’s production credits.

One of the most celebrated producers of the last 30 years, when not laying down beats for the likes of Carey, Usher, Janet Jackson, Monica, TLC, Alicia Keys, Xscape, and many others over his career Dupri was found listed as a songwriter on some of Urban music’s most memorable numbers.

For those reasons and more, music lovers were puzzled when Diddy – after sending fans into a frenzy with indication he wanted to battle Dr. Dre on the #VERZUZ platform – followed by saying Dupri couldn’t hang with him because he ‘ain’t got enough hits.’

After years of waiting on official news related to the arrival of Aaliyah‘s discography on streaming outlets, her faithful fans were stunned in early August when Barry Hankerson – the late singer’s uncle and founder of her label, Blackground Records – announced her soundtracks, compilation albums, and studio efforts would be added to streaming platforms in the weeks that followed.

The commercial response to the streaming delivery of her sophomore album, ‘One in a Million’ (made available August 20), was so great the project reached a new Billboard 200 peak – nearly 25 years after its initial release.

Her tertiary LP, 2001’s ‘Aaliyah,’ was re-released September 10 and – if industry analyst predictions are to be believed – is on track to even better commercial fanfare.

Rap Queen Nicki Minaj has entered a royal rumble of sorts after taking to Twitter to voice her distrust of COVID vaccines, despite admitting she previously tested positive for the disease.

While some have praised the GRAMMY nominee for expressing a desire to “do more research” before she commits to being vaccinated, others – like TV hosts/social commentators Joy Reid and Piers Morgan – have slammed the rapper’s comments as irresponsible given her impressionable young fan base.

Not long after Minaj fended off comments from Reid (by referring to her as a “lying homophobic c**n”), another social commentator – Meghan McCain – entered the chat.

The 2021 MTV VMAs may have boasted stage-blazing performances from the likes of Lil Nas X, Normani, Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran, Chloe Bailey, and more (as we reported here), but their collective star power wasn’t enough to help the ailing annual ceremony drum up an increase in viewership.

Like every other award show, the VMAs was not exempt from reports of steep declines in viewership – as evidenced by the event netting its “worst ratings ever” year after year.

After dropping to 1.32 million viewers at the 2020 edition, this year marks the first time the VMAs dipped outside of septuple digits since it became officially reporting its ratings in 1994.

Joy Reid joins the chorus of detractors slamming Nicki Minaj for decrying establishments and events that require COVID-19 vaccination.

As we reported here, the ‘Pills N Potions’ performer stirred quite the polarizing response when she took to Twitter Monday (September 13) to not only confirm her absence from the 2021 VMAs was due to a positive COVID diagnosis but that she has no desire to take the vaccine until she can do ‘more research.’ Because an increasing number of events (including the Met Gala from which Minaj was also absent) are requiring attendees to be vaccinated, the GRAMMY nominee alluded to the requirement being the reason she won’t be seen out until next year.

Her rant, perceived by some as anti-vax, was deemed irresponsible by many who believe she wields strong influence over her fanbase. Among the critics was Reid who took to her MSNBC show, ‘The Reid Out,’ Monday night to air out her grievance with the popular rapstress.

For fashionistas and fashion forward fellows, “fashion’s biggest night out” – better known as the Met Gala – is easily the most wonderful time of year.

A designer costume party that doubles as a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, the outing is an annual assembly of Hollywood’s “who’s who” to show off some truly outrageous and over-the-top ensembles courtesy of top named and well respected designers.  As history has seen jaws dropped courtesy of gowns adorned by the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and many more, 2021’s exhibition – christened ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ – promised no different.

With GRAMMY winner Billie Eilish, tennis pro Naomi Osaka, and designer Tom Ford acting among the event’s co-chairs, look below to see how they – and all the other big-named guests – turned heads with amazing their threads Monday night (September 13).
