Summer may be well upon us worldwide, but nowhere brought the heat more than the first-ever Yam Carnival in London.

The inaugural installment of the extravaganza took place at Clapham Common and was attended by thousands of music lovers who were treated to flavorsome performances from the likes of Davido, Kehlani, Yemi Alade, NSG, and King of Dancehall Beenie Man.

As the Jamaican royal triumphantly informed the capacity crowd, the showing was his first major stage performance in the UK for 13 years — and he did not disappoint. No hit was left untouched and fans lapped up resonating renditions of bops such as ‘Who Am I,’ ‘Girls Dem Sugar,’ as well as ‘Rum & Red Bull.’

Backed by dynamic dancers, Ms. Banks blazed with ‘Dip,’ ‘Snack,’ and more.

And while Kehlani’s set was shorter than intended, she did not disappoint. Brief but sweet, the GRAMMY nominee wowed with her silky tone during her assured showing; one which saw her in full command of the capacity crowd.

The event’s undeniable main attraction was Afrobeats titan Davido, who magnetized the largest audience of the festival.

Powering through colossal classics such as ‘If’ and ‘Fall,’ the Nigerian superstar enchanted the audience with potent stage presence and zeal that captured the essence of the entire day.

For us, and the thousands in attendance, the Yam Carnival was the sweetest of treats.

After nearly a year of teasing, Drake finally dropped his long-awaited sixth studio album, ‘Certified Lover Boy,’ on Friday (September 3).

Originally announced last October, the project’s seen multiple due dates come and go before its imminent arrival was confirmed earlier this week.

The GRAMMY winner’s first proper studio effort since 2018’s history-making ‘Scorpion,’ Drizzy fans haven’t exactly experienced a musical drought as he’s tided them over with various other releases like the 2019’s ‘Care Package’ and ‘What a Time to Be Alive 2,’ 2020’s ‘Dark Lane Demos,’ 2021’s ‘Scary Hours 2,’ and a host of features on other artists’ tunes.  All in all, those efforts combined still hadn’t quenched thirst for new music from the Canadian hitmaker.

Now, as we reported here, many of the previously mentioned features are returning the favor.  Executive produced by Noah “40” Shebib, the 21-track ‘CLB’ boasts contributions from Travis Scott, Young Thug, Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Ty Dolla $ign, Giveon, Future, Lil Baby, Rick Ross, Yebba, and more.

As Camila Cabello fans (affectionately called #Camilizers) get acquainted with the GRAMMY nominee’s twist on the classic fairy tale ‘Cinderella’ (streaming now on Amazon Prime), they’re invited to also get familiar with the unique tracklist of the movie’s soundtrack.

Like we reported here, the companion album – released the same day as its parent film – is decorated with original songs led by Cabello as well as some of the movie’s other stars like TONY Award-winning singer-actress Idina Menzel, TONY & EMMY Award-winning singer-actor Billy Porter, and more.

Its biggest draw, however, comes courtesy of odes to Pop mega divas like Madonna, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and more as each see a major hit from their celebrated discographies covered on the colorful soundtrack (see: ‘Material Girl,’ ‘Rhythm Nation,’ and ‘Let’s Get Loud’ respectively).

Marvel fans rejoice!

To coincide with the highly anticipated, September 3 release of the film ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,’ Interscope Records has launched its official soundtrack.

A star-studded affair, the 18-track companion album is surprisingly Urban driven as it features the likes of Saweetie, Swae Lee, Jhene Aiko, Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Anderson. Paak, and more.

“The music on this album is the beating heart of our film.  As we were editing Shang-Chi, we were constantly inspired by the early recordings coming in from these incredible musicians. When I first spoke to Sean about the idea for this album, we knew we wanted it to stand alone as a piece of work, but also be wrapped in the themes of our movie… themes of family, legacy, pain and healing. We also just wanted to make a really great album that gives us all another reason to celebrate. I couldn’t be more excited to share this music and these artists with the world.”
