Cop a gander at Young Thug!

Born Jeffery Lamar Williams, the 29-year-old – with 19 mixtapes, three EPs, and two compilation albums to his credit to date – surprises many with news he is finally readying the release of his sophomore album, ‘Punk.’  That’s no small task given the gargantuan success of ‘Slime & B,’ his 2020 joint mixtape with Chris Brown.

Set for October 15 release, promo for ‘Punk’ will undoubtedly see Williams all over screens, radio, and Web in its support. The most notable of said ventures to date is undoubtedly a head-turning spread in the digital edition of ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine.

Legendary ‘Rocket Man’ singer Elton John is among many blasting DaBaby for his controversial commentary on homosexuality and people living with HIV.

As widely reported, the ‘Rockstar’ rapper has been rocking headlines all week after taking to the Rolling Loud concert festival to denounce men who “suck d*ck in parking lots’ and those who ‘showed up with AIDS that’ll make [them] die in 2-3 weeks.”

Despite issuing an apology, the fallout from his words has been massive and included public slammings from the likes of Pop star Dua Lipa, fashion brand boohooMAN, and others (as we reported here).

The narrative worsened following a series of ill-advised attempts at an apology, one of which included a bizarre comparison to police brutality.

Just a day before its originally announced June 25 release, Saweetie hit fans with sour news the arrival of her debut album – ‘Pretty B*tch Music’ – would be postponed.

Citing dissatisfaction with the tunes set to line the project, the rapstress (born Diamonte Harper) confirmed she was going back to the drawing board to revamp the LP.

Though previously unsure of a new release date, Harper recently took to our friends at KIIS FM to not only confirm ‘PBM’ will still hit digital shelves this summer but its renewed tracklist may see some familiar names added.

Over a month after its release, H.E.R.’s critically acclaimed debut album – ‘Back of My Mind’ (click here to stream) – is still at the front of the line on R&B charts as it’s found at #5 on this week’s edition of the tally.

DaBaby has been a firm fixture in the headlines after making shocking homophobic remarks during his performance at Rolling Loud Miami. 

As reported, the rapper drew on offensive stereotypes when addressing the gay community. He later went on to add abhorrent remarks about AIDS and HIV.

The backlash has been swift and seismic, with both fans and industry peers – including Dua Lipa – slamming him in earnest.

Now, after making one ill-advised attempt at addressing the matter, he has taken to Twitter to add more to the narrative.

Dua Lipa may have ascended to the top of the charts with ‘Levitating’ collaborator DaBaby, but that isn’t stopping her from voicing her disgust at the homophobic remarks he made about gay people at Rolling Loud Miami. 

As reported, the MC shocked the fans at the festival, when he randomly said:

“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, then put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”

In the time since, the backlash has grown enormously – particularly after the rapper seemingly doubled down on his comments while ironically trying to extinguish the flames of anger.

Now, as the fury burns hotter, Lipa is the latest name to weigh in.
