Following delays, Keyshia Cole and Ashanti‘s #Verzuz battle is finally set to take place tomorrow (January 21)!

The eagerly awaited spar had first been scheduled in December but was postponed when Ashanti contracted coronavirus. A rescheduled January date was then scrapped due to rising rates of infection in the US.

All of that is in rearview now, though, as we’re just one more sleep away from the musical showdown.

To amplify the already volumized buzz, #Verzuz has released Cole’s titillating teaser promo.

While Reginae Carter may be making headlines for posting hopeful messages that her on-again-off-again boyfriend, rapper Rayshawn “YFN Lucci” Bennett, will be “home soon” after his detainment on murder, aggravated assault, firearm, and other charges, Atlanta authorities are suggesting the opposite.

As we previously reported, the hit rapper turned himself in Wednesday (January 13) after learning he was facing a murder charge in connection with a deadly shootout.  Later that week, he was denied bond at his first court hearing related to the matter and – as of time reported – remains in police custody.

Now, his lawyer – Drew Findling – is hitting the press rounds in his support.

Despite spending nearly two years in prison for reported identity theft related to fraudulent credit card use, City Girls star JT wants fans to know she is NOT a scammer.

Taking to social media Monday (January 18), the 28-year-old (born Jatavia Shakara Johnson) launched into a seemingly unprovoked Twitter rant to encourage her female followers to aspire to independence and self-sufficiency.

When a commenter challenged the authenticity of her messaging given her prior legal woes, Johnson clapped back with a fiery set of tweets to defend her character.

Headlines continue to bite Bow Wow for his involvement in a birthday celebration that recently packed a club in Houston despite the ongoing global health crisis (as we reported here).

Even earning harsh criticism from the city’s mayor, Sylvester Turner, the 33-year-old rapper-actor-TV personality has been battling the brunt of backlash for performing and taking part in the event that saw many of its patrons ignore recommended health and safety standards for gathered crowds.

Although his initial reaction was a defensive one (i.e. claiming he only performed one song, saying he wasn’t the sponsor or headliner of the event, etc.), he has since changed his tune to accept accountability for his actions.

No stranger to clapping back at off-color commenters, ‘Do You Know’ singer Michelle Williams is making sure you do know she’s not the one to mess with.

One who thought otherwise recently was served a stinging reminder when he took to Williams’ page to suggest she “needed some children” due to the type of content she was posting.

The comment didn’t sit well with the GRAMMY winner, who not only branded the fan “an idiot” but also reprimanded his statement – one many branded sexist and insensitive.

November 2020 saw Kash Doll earn the first Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certification of her career when her breakthrough hit – ‘Ice Me Out’ – was awarded a Gold plaque (as we reported here).

Her bid to ensure it wasn’t her only came just weeks later when the 28-year-old unveiled the sizzling song ‘Bad Azz,’ featuring fellow rapstress Mulatto as well as DJ Infamous and Benny the Butcher.

As the OG Parker & Smash David began heating up playlists over the following months, Doll & co. opted to throw gasoline on the fire by releasing the tune’s smoking accompanying music video.

It may have been released over 8 months ago, but it appears music lovers are still crazy for ‘Go Crazy’ – the lead single from Chris Brown and Young Thug‘s joint mixtape ‘Slime & B.’

In addition to becoming Brown’s biggest radio hit since 2008, just last week the Murphy Kid-produced bop made Billboard history for the slowest climb to the Hot 100’s top 5 of any male-led song ever released (as we reported here).

Now, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is proving the tune’s success isn’t limited to radio or Billboard charts.
