ZAYN may have been the second member of One Direction to pursue solo success after the quintet’s disbandment, but he was the first to earn major success on both the Hot 100 and Billboard 200.
In early 2016, the singer made history when his solo debut single, ‘Pillow Talk,’ and its parent album, ‘Mind of Mine,’ both debuted at No. 1 on the their respective charts – a feat he replicated in his native U.K. to become the first British male artist to premiere atop tallies on both sides of the pond.
The response to his inaugural effort seemed to have signaled promising commercial performances in the future, but his follow-up album, 2018’s ‘Icarus Falls,’ evinced such was not the case.
Fans hoping his third swing at bat, the January 15-released ‘Nobody is Listening,’ would be just the catalyst needed to return the 28-year-old to his former chart glory will likely be disheartened to learn the 11-track project is set to inadvertently live up to its namesake.
