There aren’t many who can boast the kind of critical acclaim and longevity Tamia and Deborah Cox have garnered over their respective 25+ years in the industry.  And from the looks of things, the legendary GRAMMY nominees are showing no signs of slowing.

In March 2020, the diva duo dropped jaws with their stunning rendition of Whitney Houston and Cece Winans‘ classic duet ‘Count on Me’ (found aboard the 1995 ‘Waiting to Exhale’ soundtrack).

Calls for an encore of that virtual collaboration were answered last week when Tam and Deb took to CBS talk show ‘The Talk’ to wow with yet another rendition of the Babyface-written tune.

2017’s ‘Best Part’ may be the best-selling single of H.E.R.‘s career to date, but the enduring success of her subsequent singles are poised to give the Daniel Caesar-assisted cut a run for its money.

Just 8 months after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced the tune had crossed its threshold for triple Platinum status – meaning it’s sold 3 million copies in the United States – the organization has updated its logs to reveal ‘Part’ has pushed through to the next certification level.

What’s more, it’s not the only prized entry from H.E.R.’s discography to earn a new accolade over the last week.

Fans of Doja Cat are still turning to gems from her breakthrough effort, 2019’s ‘Hot Pink,’ to comfort themselves during the wait for her highly-anticipated third album (due later this year).

Having already lifted the likes of its previous singles, ‘Say So’ and ‘Juicy – to multiplatinum status (as we reported here), now sights are being turned to another of the LP’s standout tracks – ‘Streets.’

Officially released in November 2019, the Blaq Tuxedo-produced sleeper hit – which samples B2K‘s ‘Streets is Callin’ – has been gaining traction over the last month since receiving spotlight treatment on Cat’s official YouTube and Tik Tok.  The latter being the very vehicle that shot her inaugural chart-topper, ‘Say So,’ to the top of music charts.

Now, is ‘Streets’ set to take the same avenue?

‘Queen Sugar’ returns to OWN for its fifth season on February 16.

Widely praised for its potently layered portrayal of an African-American family in the Deep South, the series follows the complicated lives of the Bordelon clan.

Anchored by stars Kofi Siriboe, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Bianca Lawson, and Rutina Wesley, ‘Sugar’ has also found favor for its purposeful use of female directors. Indeed, season five is entirely helmed three filmmakers: producing director Lauren Wolkstein, Lisa France and Cierra Glaude.
