The era that supported the 2019 stripper film, ‘Hustlers,’ became career defining for Jennifer Lopez.

Accompanied by award nominations and even Oscar buzz, the Lorene Scafaria-directed film not only earned J.Lo showers of critical acclaim but is also lodged in her personal record book as the best box office success of her career to date.

Among those particularly unimpressed with her performance, however, was Samantha Barbash – the woman who Lopez’s character in the flick was allegedly based on.  First making headlines for threatening to sue the movie’s production company for “stealing her story” (as we reported here), unsuccessful negotiations led Barbash to press forward with a whopping $40 million defamation of character lawsuit (as we reported here).

Months after making headlines for doing so, Samantha’s going home empty-handed after a judge tossed her case.

The world lost its ‘Black Panther’ in August when the incomparable Chadwick Boseman died after a private four-year battle with colon cancer. He was just 43.

Beyond the immeasurable devastation felt by the star’s family, friends, and fans, the loss also cast a cloud of doubt and debate over the the forthcoming ‘Black Panther’ sequel.

As reported, Boseman had been in preparations to return in the title role at the time of his passing.

Some mulled the possibility of Marvel Studios using digital technology to include his character of T’Challa, as has been the case with other films faced with such predicaments.

However, the studio’s Executive Vice President has made clear that won’t be the case.

The promo trail has been grueling (to say the least) for Sam Smith for their third studio album, ‘Love Goes.’

Supporting an era that technically kicked off in 2019, the album – after a myriad of evolutions, delays, and title changes – finally landed on digital shelves October 30, a week before premiering on the Billboard 200 at #5 (as we reported here).

In the week between the LP’s unveiling and chart debut, Smith pounded the promo pavement by rendering performances at the likes of ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden,’ ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ ‘Sirius XM,’ the 2020 MTV EMAs, and much more (click here to watch).

Despite those high profile appearances, some fans were most impressed with the GRAMMY winner’s more demure, stripped live showings – much like those found aboard their official YouTube channel from a recent session at Abbey Road Studios.

Look inside to see Smith soar with renditions of new album cuts ‘Kids Again’ and ‘Love Goes’ (the song).
