Wednesday afternoon (September 23), a grand jury indicted former Louisville police Detective Brett Hankison on 3 charges of ‘wanton endangerment’ for firing into a neighboring apartment the night Kentucky EMT and aspiring nurse Breonna Taylor was killed by cops (as we reported here).
The decision was handed down after six months of pressure from civil rights activists, celebrities, protestors, and more to arrest to the three officers responsible for killing. The other two officers remain uncharged for the incident – meaning no one is being held directly responsible for Taylor’s death.
As protests erupt around the country in response, celebrities like Alicia Keys, John Legend, Oprah, Cardi B, George Clooney, Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, and more have taken to social media to express their outrage.
