When she isn’t owning the charts with R-Rated smash hits, Cardi B can be found at the centre of a debate on female rappers and their place in Hip-Hop.

Today she appeared to celebrate Nicki Minaj‘s unmatched run in the game during a conversation hosted by Apple Music in which she praised a female rapper she believes filled the the void left by Lil Kim and Missy Elliott and has been dominating the scene ever since.

50 years after the assassination of prolific civil rights leader/Black Panther Party chairman Fred Hampton at the hands of the FBI, his life story is being brought to the big screen courtesy of Shaka King.

A timely release given the burning spotlight on racial injustice, the film – titled ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’ – tells his story via a star-studded cast toplined by the likes of Academy Award-nominee Daniel Kaluuya (as Hampton), Lakeith Stanfield (as his ‘Judas’ William O’Neal), Ashton Sanders, Algee Smith, Martin Sheen, and more.

Ryan Coogler (director of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’) and Charles King serve as producers.

Much like her ‘WAP’ co-star Cardi B (as we reported here), Megan Thee Stallion went live on social media ahead of the arrival of the tune’s accompanying music video to ramp up excitement.

While on the platform, she fielded fan questions – some of which (as expected) veered toward the topic of her health as she recuperates from surgery after suffering bullet wounds to her feet.  Reliving the horrific incident, Stallion (born Megan Pete) recalled the emotional aftermath:

“I feel like this is a thing that I see every single day and I see so many women, and I see so many men talking shit about this,” said Meg. “I felt, like, really crazy. I felt like, why did I get shot? Like, what did I do? It was insane. The shit was crazy and I feel like some people think that it’s funny and some people think that it’s a joke, and I feel like some people are saying it to get to me.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, she reflected on the lack of support from her closest friends:

“It’s not fun, b*tch,” she stated. “I don’t understand. I just felt very betrayed by a friend. I felt very betrayed by all my friends. I felt very shocked, very scared.”

That’s not all she said. Look inside for more:

As we have reported many times over (click here to read more), Cardi B has no problem taking to social media to clap back at detractors who have weighed in on why her yet-titled sophomore album has yet to drop.

Once believed to be coming as early as Summer 2019 (a year after her debut LP, ‘Invasion of Privacy,’ topped the Billboard 200), the rumor mill began to churn murmurs the hold-up was due to label issues, legal issues, and even the nonperformance of singles ‘Press’ and ‘Money’ – despite both songs becoming top 20 hits on the Hot 100.

Tired of the commentary, Cardi took to YouTube Live Thursday (August 6) ahead of the premiere of her Megan Thee Stallion-assisted tune, ‘WAP’ (click here to watch), to dispel any myths about why the set’s yet to be announced.

Just as her latest single, the Gucci Mane-assisted ‘Like That,’ looked poise to crack the Hot 100’s top 50, it took a nearly 20-spot plunge on this week’s edition that saw it land at #76.

Apparently, Cat’s prowling on to its follow-up – the “surprise drop” entitled ‘Freak.’

Living up to its title, the spicy cut – which samples Paul Anka‘s ‘Put Your Head on My Shoulder’ – sees the rapstress purr:

“This can go one of two ways / We could flip the coin, I’ll be your slave / Call you daddy, give me a nickname / I ain’t afraid of a little pain,” she sings.

Does it house enough punch to return her to the chart glory of her previous hit, ‘Say So’?
