The weekend is nigh and so too is VH1 Divas 2012!

Now a live show, this year’s festivities take place from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on Sunday.

A Dance-themed extravaganza, the 2012 instalment of the popular franchise pays homage to late singers Whitney Houston and Donna Summer – the latter of whom is being honored by Kelly Rowland.

With many observing physical and musical similarities between Summer and the Destiny’s Child star, it was almost necessary that Rowland’s involvement center around the Disco queen. A stance the show’s producers seem to agree with, as the 31 year old has been tapped to tackle two of Summer’s biggest hits.

He’s the Grammy nominated writer responsible for Usher’s ‘Climax’, Rihanna‘s ‘No Love Allowed’ and Keyshia Cole‘s ‘Enough Of No Love’.

Now, with the backing of Def Jam Recordings, Roc Nation and a fan base aptly named ‘The Eligiance‘, Elijah Blake steps into the light with the release of the hotly anticipated EP, ‘Bijoux 22‘.

So, as long time fans of his work, That Grape Juice were honored to catch up with the rising star last week- for an interview which saw him discuss the NO ID pushed EP, his journey to the top and his work for Ciara, Keyshia Cole and the Pop Icon, Britney Spears.

The stars aligned in Atlanta, Georgia last night, arriving in style to celebrate the 30th birthday of Urban Pop Princess Keri Hilson.

Partying with her parents, Wale, B.O.B and Dania Ramirez to name just three, the Southern belle spent the bulk of her night at Club Vanquish, days before her hotly anticipated set at the 2012 ‘VH1 Divas’ outing which will also welcome the likes of Melanie Fiona, Ciara and ‘Wish Your Love Away’ singer Brandy.

As the man behind Usher‘s ‘Climax‘, Keyshia Cole‘s ‘Enough Of No Love’ and many a cut on Ciara‘s ‘One Woman Army‘, Elijah Blake is fast becoming Pop’s most sought after contributor.

However, while his skills have already seen him win an ‘industry concentrated’ respect , it’s his work on Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’ that has many a Pop fan foaming at the mouth, with some now hailing him as the male equivalent to Ester Dean.

She came. She drank. She conquered.

After what turned out be an ‘adventurous’ seven days, ROC rebel Rihanna’s ‘777’ Tour finally came to an end last night in NYC.

Taking her lack luster show to Webster Hall, the Pop Princess enjoyed the company of long time mentors Jay Z, Tyty and mastermind Jay Brown with whom she travelled with on the week long tour.

Roman is back! At least that’s what it sounds like on the freshly released snippets for the femcee’s ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re Up’ LP.

Annual must-see VH1 Divas is back for its third outing since being re-booted in 2010. With previous decades seeing the likes of Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, and Mariah Carey feature, the re-tooled version of the show appears to focus on birthing the new divas of tomorrow – 2012 being no different.

Tonight marks the return of BET’s highly anticipated ode to women of color ‘Black Girls Rock’.

Much like its ‘BET Honors’ counterpart, the event is set to showcase some of music’s best and brightest performers to serenade and shine light on women of color who have made impacts on their respective personal and professional communities.

Airing moments ago, the Tracee Ellis Ross / Regina King – hosted showing, taped October 13 at New York City’s Loews Paradise Theatre, honored actress Kerry Washington (‘Scandal’) and songstresses Alicia Keys and Dionne Warwick as well as featured performances from the likes of Ciara, Brandy, Keyshia Cole, India Arie and more.
