‘Trollz,’ the latest duet from Rap superstars Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj, isn’t exactly ‘breaking the internet’ as its main star once predicted it would but it’s certainly breaking records.

As we reported here, the Sadpony-produced bop may be headed for a #2 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to lack of radio airplay and a slow start at streaming on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, but where the tune is proving itself a juggernaut is YouTube.

UK singer Misha B made headlines last night when she opened up about the racial bias she says she experienced during her tenure on The X Factor.

The Manchester born songbird was a hot favourite to win the then-popular show, however she saw her wings clipped after being branded a “bully” and other terms historically and unfairly attached to Black women.

In an hour-long Instagram video, she unpacked the various racial stereotypes employed to dim her star – both in front and behind the glare of the cameras.

An experience she says left her feeling suicidal and with PTSD that she still battles with today.

Many were shocked, but someone who won’t be surprised is British Pop royal Gary Barlow – who served as a judge on the 2011 series.

The Take That frontman and Misha’s mentor Kelly Rowland defended her vigorously against the claims uttered by Tulisa Contostavlos – whose merit to even judge the talent of others was always a source of confusion to many.

In his recent memoir ‘A Better Me,’ Barlow opened up about the culture behind the scenes of the show – specifically recounting “bully-gate” and how it came to be.

2009 brought with it the introduction of Pop’s next big thing Lady Gaga.

This week’s From The Vault pick has a lot to do with it. Today’s selection is ‘Poker Face.’

Like predecessor ‘Just Dance,’ ‘Face’ was also penned plus produced by RedOne and Mother Monster herself.

Reportedly dealing with sexual ambiguity, the song references Boney M’s disco classic ‘Ma Baker’ on it’s hook and was a huge hit for Miss Germanotta.

Hitting #1 in the US and the UK (as well as Canada and Australia), it marked the diva’s second consecutive chart-topper in said territories and ushered her inside the Top 10 of many others.

Directed by Ray Kay and Anthony Mandler, the song’s video is set in a mansion and sees Gaga dancing by the pool and engaging in a game of strip poker with house guests.

In many a manner, this video was a true visual introduction to the ever-colorful and ever-evolving “Gaga” aesthetic. From eccentric glasses, metallic accessories and crazy outfits, it was the first time the world could truly privy to her complex universe.

The video received 4 nominations at the 2009 VMAs; a night that also saw her deliver a show-stopping performance.

After the introspective ‘Joanne’, it’s great to see Lady Gaga re-embrace her Pop roots, both musically and visually, with ‘Chromatica.’

As demonstrated with this classic, the fun also lies in her fantastic videos and stage shows, and this new album definitely lends itself to big visual moments. One we’re especially ready for is ‘Sour Candy’ from Gaga and the ladies of Blackpink.
