From The Vault invites you back to the summer of 2008, a year which brought with it Danity Kane‘s ‘Bad Girl’ – the group’s last single to-date as a quintet.
Helmed by Danja – the hitmaker behind Britney Spears’ stellar ‘Blackout’ album – the song was serviced as the band’s second single from sophomore effort ‘Welcome To The Dollhouse.’ Its frenetic electro-pop production was elevated even more by a guest verse from Rap queen Missy Elliott.
Directed by Erik White, the video boasted a graphic novel aesthetic and – as stated in the song -it saw the girls transform into their badass alter egos whenever the red light comes on.
The visual was choreographed by Gil Duldulao, who is also Janet Jackson’s longest working creative director and choreographer. Elliott also featured on the clip.
Still, all of this wasn’t enough to secure the track a Hot 100 placing, instead peaking at #10 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100.
As was a constant in the “Danity Kane” narrative, this track had never received the push it should have in order to become a hit and ended up becoming the last time we would see all five original members in a video together.

Whether the ladies decide to reunite as DK5, DK4 or DK3, we’ll always have a soft spot for them, if only for everything they were able to achieve in so little time and with all the odds against them.
