Jay-Z is speaking up and out about speculation that he staged a protest at the 2020 Super Bowl.

The Rap mogul was in attendance at the Big Game this past Sunday, alongside wife Beyonce and their 8 year old daughter Blue Ivy.

Notably, the event served as Jay’s first day on the job as co-producer of the Halftime show after striking a polarizing deal with the NFL.

Despite this, when he and The Carters were spotted sitting during Demi Lovato‘s performance the US National Anthem, some oddly intimated it to be some kind of “protest” (akin to Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling). A stance that seemed to disregard the fact Jay has (even to his detriment) consistently touted his belief that true change could come about by advancing beyond kneeling.

Now, he’s setting the record straight for any and all of his detractors.

Despite the chart misstep that was the Normani-assisted ‘Diamonds’ (click here to read more), Megan Thee Stallion‘s proving her shine on the Hot 100’s far from dimmed.

Case in point?  The commercial response to her latest single, ‘B.I.T.C.H.’

Produced by Detroit hitmaker Helluva, the song – which conceptually and sonically interpolates elements from Tupac’s ‘Ratha Be Ya N*gga’ – serves as the lead single from the Houston hottie’s highly anticipated debut studio album, ‘Suga.’ Released January 24, ‘B.I.T.C.H.’ (thanks to a handsome mix of streaming and digital downloads) premiered in the top 40 of this week’s refreshed Hot 100.

In fact, the #31 opening comes as a career milestone for the 24-year-old as it’s her highest solo debut on the tally to date.  As we extend our congratulations, look inside to see where she landed and who joined her on this week’s TGJ Chart Check:

Super Bowl LIV is proving itself to be the gift that keeps on giving; just ask its halftime show performers – Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

As we previously reported, the latter – just a day after the event – saw her name atop iTunes real time sales charts with hits ‘Whenever, Wherever,’ ‘Hips Don’t Lie,’ and more.  Unseating some of today’s top hits (including numbers from Taylor Swift, Roddy Ricch, and more), the commercial response to her hip-winding performance Sunday night (February 2) even left Lopez’s hits in the dust as those tunes (i.e. ‘Waiting for Tonight,’ ‘On the Floor’) were found on the sales tally’s lower end.

Conversely, reports now reveal fans of the ‘I’m Real’ star – affectionately called #JLovers – are really showing their love via streaming services.  There, she’s outpacing her Colombian co-star by a considerable margin.

Just a month after kicking the new year off with new song, ‘Eleven’ (click here to listen), Urban Pop crooner Khalid is back with its follow-up, ‘Know Your Worth.’

Like his Grammy-nominated cut, ‘Talk,’ ‘Worth’ sees the Texas native unite with production duo Disclosure.  Unlike ‘Talk,’ ‘Worth’ is an uplifting tune which sets out to encourage listeners to believe in themselves.

“You don’t know your worth/ All the things I know that you deserve/ Say it’s not real if it doesn’t hurt/ Find someone you know will put you first/ Find someone who loves you at your worst,” he croons on the chorus.

Megan Thee Stallion made all sorts of headlines when she took to Instagram coupled up with rapper G-Eazy.

Mo’Nique has never been one to hold her tongue, even when the tide hasn’t been in her favor.

Recent years have seen her take aim at Oprah Winfrey and other media moguls, who she has accused of facilitating her blacklisting in Hollywood (after the ‘Precious’ promo fiasco).

And while her career seems to be slowly gaining traction again, Mo isn’t letting up in her public spar with Winfrey.

Moments ago, she went live with an open letter in which she slammed Oprah for making her life “harder,” as well as probed the differences in her approach to Harvey Weinstein and other controversial narratives.
