Empress of Soul Gladys Knight is no stranger to reigning over music charts with classic hits like ‘Love Overboard, ‘Save the Overtime for Me,’ and ‘Midnight Train to Georgia,’ but now the diva has hopped aboard a new holiday film with hopes of reigning over TV ratings as well.
Filling out a cast led by Jessica Lowndes and Paul Greene, the R&B legend stars as “Cora” – a guiding force who helps a local salesclerk (portrayed by Lowndes) realize her dream of becoming a performer on Broadway by convincing her to participate in a small-scale Christmas production. Together, they team with “Jason” (Greene), a jingle writer and single father, to give the town a holiday concert the likes of which they’ve never seen.

As two of the most important Black artists to ever grace recorded music, Dionne Warwick (one of the best-selling female acts of all time) and Gladys Knight (the crowned ‘Empress of Soul’) not only boast six decades of impact respectively but they also own two of the most recognized names, voices, and faces in their field.
Despite the aforementioned, earlier this week – during one of Serena Williams‘ farewell tennis matches at the US Open – Twitter went up in flames when analyst/announcer Chanda Rubin misidentified Warwick as Knight (who were both in attendance at the star-studded showing).
Yet while the negative criticism poured in heavily for Rubin, Dionne and Gladys seemed to be the least offended by the mixup.

It’s been over two weeks since Team Lebron walked away as champions of the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, but the most memorable shots from the showdown were fired before the game even started.
Soul diva Macy Gray kicked the event off with a polarizing rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner,’ leading some to cheer while others ridiculed her wardrobe and unique take on the historic number (as we reported here).

Reflecting on the incident Sunday (March 6), Macy says the report left her ‘devastated’ and ‘crying’ – until James made a call to clear up the confusion.
